The Tax Shelter can provide additional funding up to 25-30% of the total qualifying expenses in the EEA. It allows the finance of up to 40-45% of the Belgian-eligible expenses.

february 2016: Film and Videogames: Synergies and Financing opportunities

The Video Game sector is constantly growing in Europe and public intervention is needed to support the development, production and distribution of independent games.  What Is the current framework for policy and funding in European countries?

peacefulfish – consultancy for financing the creative industries, will present "Financing Videogames in Europe": an informative session and panel which sees the participation of industry experts and public bodies. The session includes also the presentation of E1027, a unique videogame experience based on the extraordinary life of the architect genius Eileen Gray. The game, produced by peacefulfish in collaboration with Iglu Media, is inspired and based upon the movie Price of Desire (2015) by Mary Mc Guckian.

Closing The Gap is a training course for film, TV, and transmedia producers organized by creative industries financing consultancy peacefulfish (Berlin/London/Brussels/Cannes) in association with the pan-European investor network Media Deals (Paris/Berlin), and international tutors, experts, and equity investors.

Investors participating in the training both as experts and on the pitch panel include:

> managers of equity-based film funds

Through the course, producers learn innovative financing strategies, prepare business plan content and pitch presentations targeted to an equity investor audience, have a range of networking opportunities, receive extensive one-to-one feedback and pitch coaching and—at the course’s conclusion—pitch their projects to a panel of investors.

Producers should apply with a specific project.

The course fee is 900 euro per producer, which includes the individual Skype consultations with the course tutors, the on-site equity investor pitching workshop, and lunches and some dinners for the attending producer during the on-site workshop. Producers must cover their own travel and accommodation costs.

Scholarships are available from peacefulfish.

june 2013: ENTER Europe workshop in Paris, 4./5. June 2013

The first on-site workshop in Paris was successfully held on 4./5. June 2013 at the Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp at Cité du Cinéma in north Paris.

The ENTER Europe programme looked for equity investors, business angels, fund managers, bankers and other financing actors who currently develop financing tools for Europe’s audiovisual industry.

The 9 participants arrived at the course with a concrete concept for a financing/ investment instrument, which they want to implement in 2014. Participants were coming from the UK, Norway, Spain, France, Italy and Lithuania.

In the course of the 2-day training, participants upgraded their understanding of film finance, film distribution, films’ profitability, investment risks and different models which help to balance and minimise these risks. The course was chaired by CEO Thierry Baujard and Juliane Schulze, as well as involving a variety of sector experts.

New ICT - based solutions for the cultural sector

>>> peacefulfish is the leader of a Consortium -also including Kennsiland and MFG- implementing the Pilot Project “@ Diversity - Innovative ideas for cultural and creative sectors in Europe”, launched by the Directorate General Education and Culture. In line with the new Creative Europe Programme and the priorities of the Digital Agenda for Europe, an Idea Competition will be launched that will highlight and promote fifteen ideas making an innovative use of ICT-based technologies to create, make accessible, spread and/or finance cultural products.

As a first step towards the implementation of the Competition, an Advisory Board meeting was held in Brussels on the 7th of March,  with the participation of Thierry Baujard, four more representatives of the Consortium, 2 representatives of DG EAC and the following Advisory Board members representing a wide range of the cultural sectors to be covered by the Competition: Anne Bergman-Tahon from the Federation of European Publishers, Maarten Brinkerink from The Institute for Sound and Vision, Julia Pagel, from the Network of European Museum Organizations, Helen Smith from IMPALA and Adrian Wootton from Film London.

At the meeting, the Consortium of the Project consulted the Advisory Board members on the structure of the Competition, the selection criteria, as well as on the best marketing strategy for each of their sectors of expertise. The process of assessment and selection of the submitted ideas was also discussed and the Advisory Board members agreed to offer their field knowledge and suggest names of sectorial experts who will form the high-level jury that will select the Competition’s final winners in October 2013.
